Principal’s Message

Paul Dwyer, Principal

Dear Parents,

Thank you to students, staff and families for participating in our Family Maths afternoon on Wednesday this week. I hope everyone enjoyed the activities and realises how much fun maths can be! Thank you to our Numeracy leader, Reena Naidoo, for organising and overseeing this event.

Yesterday we celebrated the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, with a whole school Mass. Thank you to Father Benneth and to everyone who participated and contributed to this important Feast day Mass via prayers, readings, serving, audio visual set up and the beautiful singing.

Please check that you are up to date with payment of school fees. There are many options for payment, and I encourage families experiencing financial difficulties to make a time to discuss options with me in confidence. With thanks.

Our Senior production “Rock Starz” is nearly here! (Wednesday 28th August and Thursday 29th August at 7:00 p.m. at Cranbourne Community Theatre). Senior students are very excited about performing for our school community. It promises to be a great show. Don’t miss out – tickets are still available.

A reminder that our annual Fathers’ Day breakfast will be held next Friday (23rd August) starting at 7:30 a.m. in the hall. Thank you to our Parents and Friends who are organising a beautiful breakfast for our dads and children to enjoy. I hope to see lots of dads there.

Please note: Our Fathers’ Day stall for students to purchase a gift for their dad, will be held at school on Friday 30th August.

Excitement is building around our Trivia night for Saturday 7th September. Thank you to our parents who have sourced donations and prizes for this evening. The Parents and Friends group are working hard to put hampers together with the generous assistance of our school families.

Our Grade 5 / 6 Senior school camp will be held in the last week of this term (from Wednesday 18th September to Friday 20th September inclusive). The venue is Phillip Island Adventure Resort. A Care monkey notice providing further information will be sent home to parents of senior students.

Kind regards,

Paul Dwyer, Principal

Please notify the school of any absences prior to 9:00am on the day of the absence. The easiest way to do this is via the FLEXIBUZZ App.

Unexplained Absences

Last year the Victorian Minister of Education has reviewed the Attendance Guidelines and accordingly schools must now notify parents/guardians of unexplained absences on the same day, as soon as practicable.

Some St Joachim’s parents may have received a phone call from our office staff to ask about unexplained absences. It is now more important than ever that families notify us if your child is absent or will be late for school.

The easiest way to do this is by using the Flexibuzz App and using the ABSENCE tab.

We look forward to your co-operation in this very important matter.

Father's Day Breakfast - Aug 23 NEXT Friday!

Father's Day Stall - Aug 30

We have a busy few months planned at St Joachim's, therefore we've had to move some dates around to make it easier on our students, parents and staff. Both occasions will be special!

Feast of the Assumption

This week we celebrated a special Mass to recognise the Assumption of Mary into Heaven. The students participated reverently and sang beautifully.

Many thanks to Father Benneth for celebrating this mass with our St Joachim’s School community

Prayer for the Feast of the Assumption:

Almighty ever-living God, who assumed the Immaculate Virgin Mary, the Mother of your Son, body and soul into heavenly glory, grant we pray, that, always attentive to the things that are above, we may merit to be sharers of her glory.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Our Junior school students have recently been on an excursion to Moonlit Sanctuary. Audrey has written a diary entry which is a recount of her day. The students have been working on extending their writing by including how they felt about their experiences. Students are also encouraged to use a variety of sentence starters so that their writing becomes more interesting and less repetitive.
